Support Videos

Are you paying attention to your Cheers POS?  We have uploaded seven new support videos.  We have recorded a lot more and plan to upload them shortly.  We are doing this to help you, our customers, optimize your Cheers POS System.  Cheers POS is the best system out there for liquor stores, but, it is no good for you if you cannot perform your day-to-day functions on it.

We want you to see all the bells & whistles of Cheers POS.  There is a LOT that it can do to help your business and since there is so much, we cannot put it all on the front page.

Changing the subject a bit -- we are looking for good share-worthy content to post on these blog posts, but, they are getting harder & harder to find.  In the past week, we have found these two.  They do not deal with alcohol, but, they are good reads, clever, and wonderfully informative.

Updates to Cheers POS -- and No Drink Recipe Today

We are recording videos to show how to manipulate Cheers POS.  We want you to know how to be in control.

Other than that, we have added some pop-ups to help you not make a mistake when opening and closing your register.

This is brief today, we have a lot going on.

Tomorrow, we should have more time, more energy, and the ability to look up and post about alcohol.

~Cheers!

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!!!

MAKE IT COUNT TODAY!!

We have posted drink and food recipes for the past few days, please check those out if you would like to try them.  Today we are going to focus on the legal holiday, itself.

That's right: legal holiday.

We have searched the web regarding the legal holiday in New Orleans and the websites we have come across all repeat the same things.

First, overall, the festival is family friendly.  There's ONE parade that is debauchery on display, but, that does not happen on Mardi Gras.

"Fated Bull," is an unofficial (nothing is official with Mardi Gras) mascot.  Carnival is loosely translated (Latin), "Farewell to Meat."  What better way to show this than a great big ol' bovine the day before the Catholic Church mandates no meat (current law states Ash Wednesday and Fridays in Lent, but, no meat used to be observed all throughout the season of Lent).  Mardi Gras means, "Fat Tuesday," in French -- last day to eat well until Easter Sunday.  Though there are Sundays and some feast days (including Saint Joseph's Day) within this period, because it is Lent, they are not celebrated lavishly as Feasts outside of Lent.

The other common, "Mascot," -- Rex.

The Colors: Purple, Gold, Green (our secretary is wearing these colors today).

The Purple Guy Looks like a jelly bean, the Green Guy looks like the Incredible Hulk, and the Asian Guy is painted yellow.
A real king may have influenced these colors.  He may have really visited New Orleans once and that's why the festival has these colors.  They have significance to them as well: Purple -- Justice, Gold -- Power, Green -- Faith.

Public drinking is allowed in New Orleans, Louisiana today!!!!  Public urination -- TOTALLY NOT!!!

We know the above link specifies The Superbowl Weekend, but, it is so good, we thought to include it to apply it should anybody take advantage of Fat Tuesday (less than 12 hours here in the Central Time Zone).

One Day Until Mardi Gras/Re: "Happy Friday -- Time For A Drink!"

We hope everybody enjoyed Super Bowl 50.  Now that that's done, Mardi Gras!

We will post drinks today because tomorrow is THE BIG DAY: FAT TUESDAY!!!  Traditionally, Carnival lasted until midnight.  Come midnight Wednesday (after the end of Tuesday), police in New Orleans clear the streets.  Parties still go on in bars and such, but, officially, that is the end of any major celebration (at least traditionally) until Easter.

To help you all get it all in enjoy the link with drink recipes!!  http://cocktails.lovetoknow.com/Mardi_Gras_Drink_Recipes  This is great because all the recipes are on this one page.

Also, a day in advance, a King Cake Recipe:  http://www.history.com/topics/holidays/kings-cake-recipe  We do not know how authentic this is, to tell you the truth.  We're not saying it's not; we just do not know.  There is a video on this page.  And the recipe looks complex.

IF any of our readers are going to Mardi Gras tomorrow, or are already enjoying life in New Orleans, please read the following: http://www.nola.com/mardigras/index.ssf/2016/01/new_orleans_mardi_gras_tips.html  It is a list of what and what not to do and what to expect.

A photograph from that website:
Bacchus parade 2015
Bacchus*!!  We thought this would be an appropriate photograph for Mardi Gras AND Cheers POS.

AND, getting back to more alcohol...apparently our secretary did not remember to post what she thought of the mixed drink and the beer last Monday, BUT, it's now a NEW Monday!!  And she never said WHICH Monday!  Yes, she was able to taste the sweet in the beer, but, primarily she tasted the beer.

She needs to develop her palate better.

Regarding the mixed drink: she used Chi-Chi's Churro alcohol rather than any, "Chata."  That may have affected the results.  She remembers it being strong.

~Cheers!

*We must include this useless trivia as well:  Bacchus is associated with amethyst, which is the birth stone for February.  There are various myths, BUT, rather than be defiled, some virgin was turned into stone.  Bacchus poured his wine over the stone and it turned purple.  Purple is the color of amethyst.  Amethyst was believed to keep the wearer of it from getting intoxicated.  And now you know.

LAST CALL!! -- Super Bowl 50 Drinking Games!

We do not know how we missed these for so long, but, we apologize.

We do not have a dog in this race, we do not know who is favored.  When researching, our secretary didn't even know what more than half of these meant and who these people are.

http://joemontanasrightarm.com/2016/02/01/the-not-so-official-super-bowl-50-drinking-game/  Ooooh.  Be careful with this one.  Maybe you should half the suggestions.  And do not down an entire bottle in less than 20 minutes.

http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2016/01/25/super-bowl-50-drinking-game  A fun article.  Drink responsibly is the theme.

There are more drinking games for this Game 50 online, but, these are three to start with (or inspire you).  We cannot recommend doing shots for anything.  Especially if you have to drive after the Super Bowl party you are attending.  Don't be so drunk you think Helen Mirren is specifically targeting you.

We will also mention that things are going well with Cheers POS, we have updated the system AND added new features, but, we can always get to those things later.  There's a game to watch!  And then a Mardi Gras to have!  And then a day off for government on President's Day!

All the drinking!

~Cheers!

Lies, Gimmicks, and Cheers POS

First the rant and then the drinks.

What inspires this post was something our Secretary saw yesterday. Pinterest. Pin claims, "Lazy Way to Lose Weight: Cinnamon, Honey and Water". She clicks the link, which reads, "This is an extremely lazy way to lose weight. It burns hundreds of calories even if you are just sitting down on your computer and doing nothing. It also increases your metabolism which aids in weight loss."

Uh-huh.

Note the claims AND awkward sentence structure and errors (not the only ones on the website). What if I do not want to just sit down on my computer and do nothing?

She reads the recipe...and then the comments. Ohhhh, the Comments. The Comments, which we all love, had a remark (which we cannot find now) stating something to the effect of, 'This is B.S. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than one takes in.' The reply from the man who posted the initial post was, 'This is a tool to help people with their weight loss.' or something like that. There may have also been a comment stating that if people eat right, they will lose weight with or without this concoction. (It may have been the same post as the first comment mentioned). IF there was a reply, it may have been along the lines (from the guy who posted the initial post), that of course people need to eat right and exercise; this is just a tool to help with weight loss.

WAIT!! NO!!

The Pin said this was the lazy way to lose weight and the post said the reader could burn hundreds [PLURAL!] of calories even if he or she is just sitting down on his or her computer. This either works as it said, or it doesn't.

The question was asked, 'Does this really work'? The reply of the original poster was, "People have report [sic] success."

Straight up scam? Bait and switch? The man also hocks vitamin supplements to aid in weight loss AND an anti-wrinkle cream that claims to make the wearer look 10 years younger.

Uh-huh.

This guy has quite a bit of ways to contact him online. He may or may not have his own webpage (we're not sure), which makes him look like a typical minister (he's not one) and reads POORLY, like he's written a resume to get a job, but, he does not have a lot of experience or other jobs did not go well but he's trying not to show that. The wording is awkward and vague.

The photographs...can we really believe that in 19 days, a woman went from having a full face and a double chin to a taut face? (The two photographs are dated 19 days apart, but, the title says the results were just 13 days later.) Or how about a woman claiming to have gone from a size 3X to a size 4 in 7 months? Have we mentioned how unprofessional the website looks? And the shady links and adverts on it?

Needless to say, when Cheers POS makes a claim, we will stick to it. We have said it before and we will say it again: we know Cheers POS is a specialized product and we do not advertise it to everybody because the general public does not need it. We do not even advertise it to retailers outside of liquor store owners: you try to pull everybody on the boat with you and you all drown.

We back up our product, not because we need to sell it, but, because it works!

It works ringing up alcohol. Which is good for making drinks.

Drinks such as:

http://www.foodandwine.com/blogs/2014/09/05/7-cocktails-you-should-definitely-make-for-game-day 7 Links are on this page. Each drink has a short description.

http://www.delish.com/entertaining/g2947/easy-college-tailgate-cocktail-ideas/ NOT for The Big Game, BUT, collegiate inspired drinks for tailgating! We found these amusing, ergo, we are sharing.

Game Day Drinks!

Super Bowl 50 (which should be, "L," but, we will not get into that now).  We enjoy that we do not need to address The Big Game by the proper title, and yet EVERYBODY in the United States still knows what we are talking.

We love that this is such a major event, more people than usually watch football watch this game, if not for the game, then for the commercials &/or Half-Time Show.  AND, we also love that companies know this, and advertise accordingly.

One day, Cheers POS could be one of those advertisers.

It occurs to us, with Mardi Gras...and Saint Valentine's Day...AND President's Day, we forgot to add drinks for The Big Game (which is the closest of any of these).

Without further ado:

http://selfproclaimedfoodie.com/game-day-punch/

http://www.southernliving.com/food/holidays-occasions/game-day-drinks?crlt_pid=camp.IWKeOfyKp8TL  We did not click on any of the links and we must admit we were underwhelmed by the names and combinations.  We still include this link because we know not everybody is us.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/big-game/big-game-cocktails.html  Cocktails for The Big Game.  We love that some of them are beer based!  There are a bit here, but, they are categorized.  Each category has a slideshow with a link to the recipes.

BEER RUN CUPCAKES!!!  (Made with a stout):Beer Run Cupcakes There is stout in the frosting as well!!  And with nearly 500 calories in each cupcake, how can you go wrong?!

POWER WORDS!!!

Using words to get your readers to FEEEEEL and ACT NOW!!!

The way we have seen power words suggested being used is gimmicky and playing on people's irrationality; we know this is not new, but we still do not like it.  ("How to use words to get your readers to feel a certain way/evoke emotions in your readers."  Ugh.)

You know what we haven't seen in all these, "How To"s?  MAKE A SUPERIOR PRODUCT.

If your product is needed and better than whatever else is out there, you will not need manipulative power words.  Also, if you want power words to work, we think that you should be a GREAT marketer, that is, there is a right way and a wrong way to use power words.  If you cannot do it the right way, you should not do it at all.  The wrong way makes you look desperate at best, fraudulent at worst.

Cheers POS, http://cheerspos.com/, does not do this.  Our website uses appropriate adjectives to modify the nouns we need.  We know we have a very specialized product, not for everybody (not everybody can run a liquor store), and we want relationships with our customers and let them know we value them as people, not as another lead who bought our product.  Technology usually means replacement of people.  We DO NOT have this mindset at Cheers POS.  We want to help people with our technology and services.  We are a small company who focuses on the individual (we will be in contact with somebody over the phone as many times as needed).

Even for our readers and followers, we promise you to NEVER do the stupid and obviously phony click bait thing; if there is something in an article we want you to read, we will give you a description.  If there is something we want you to know, we will let you know, we will give the, "secret," away.  For you.

For example, Pinterest had a pin about a cookie recipe with a secret ingredient.  It pictured a chocolate chip & m&m cookie and said something about it being the best cookie with these two secret ingredients.

Just tell us what the secret ingredients are.  If the cookie is so great, we will check it out.  We do not have the time to click on the pin or the link (which will lead us to another link) if you do not have the courtesy or respect for us to let us in the know of this, "secret."

We just want you all to know what to expect from Cheers POS.

Like drinks!

We know we promised Mardi Gras or Saint Valentine's Day drinks, but, we found a Pin to a link for President's Day (2/15/16) Drinks!  We did not click on each drink link; we cannot attest to the content on those sites.  That being said, here you go: Twelve President's Day Drinks  This comes from the website, "Mix That Drink."  If you cannot get to the link, please go to the website and search, "12 President's Day Cocktails."

Happy February!!

How are those New Year's Resolutions working out for you?

Ah...we've made it to February, the month of caucuses, Saint Valentine's Day, and Lent....which, ~technically~ begins on Saint Valentine's Day, but, the Season of Lent begins Ash Wednesday, February 2, 2016.

We also have a leap year this year.

And wonky weather.

Carnival --->Mardi Gras and Saint Valentine's Day.  SURELY there must be SOME alcoholic cocktails to celebrate these events!

We will post what we find as often as we can.

Mardi Gras Jell-o Shots  Three different Jell-o's, Three different kinds of alcohol (if you count vodka and flavored vodka separately).

Ten Mardi Gras Drinks  Each one takes you to a different webpage.  We have not checked these pages.

And now for a work related item: SEO Boosting!  Checking out Pinterest (we will spare you all the pins we found, which repeat the same tips), states to write for humans, not for bots, and avoid over-using keywords.

~Cheers!
