World's Funniest Engineering Fails -- YouTube Vid
Perhaps they are funny only because of the commentary, either way, our secretary found this and thought it too good to not share.
Updates at Cheers POS!
The office has just been informed that Cheers POS is one step closer to being compatible with EMV!! We are working VERY hard on this so that we, a cloud-based business, will keep up with the future. (We know, NOBODY has really implemented this yet and we do not see it anywhere.)
In other (personal) news, did you know that between February 25 through March 24, 2016, Cheers POS has ordered 4 Asus PT 2001 All-In-One computers from amazon.com? Within the span of one month, we have ordered four because we had to return three (if you read this blog regularly, you know the struggle). None of the computers, even though they were plugged in, were charging. Each one said that it was plugged in and charging, but, even after hours, it was showing 0% charged. IN ALL FAIRNESS, these MIGHT have been refurbished.
Today, our secretary got on the phone with Asus (again) and this time Asus talked her through a BIOS Default Settings Reset. Somehow, thank God, this worked. Asus was talking about not being able to find the RMA Number (the representative explained that he would populate RMA number maybe at least 3 times during the conversation because he did not see one and our secretary did not have one). This is the number that showed a report was filled out online. Our secretary did this yesterday, along with providing a .pdf file of the receipt/invoice showing that this computer was purchased on 3/24/16. She was told to do this and call back two hours later to make sure the invoice went through. The issue was, she would be leaving well before the two hours was up. She could not come back to do it, either, as she had to be at her other job in a relatively short amount of time (less than two hours break between this job and her other job on Mondays!). She did this so that the computer (with a limited 90 warranty) could be sent back and be repaired. (This particular computer, Number 4, was not even recognizing the battery, which we cannot determine if it is better or worse -- is it progress when a battery does not charge because it is not even recognized?)
AFTER she told the Asus representative that her boss said they would just return the computer (because this was taking too long and the representative was not being helpful at this point), our secretary checked Number 4...which was at 3% charge! w00t! Hopefully this computer will still work when it is moved to its new work station and thus, can be set up properly with all the apps and software this business needs to function more appropriately!!
We hope you all are having a Happy Easter Week (holla if you had to go back to work on Easter Monday)!!
We may see if we can post drink recipes today (depends on how full our plate is...or what small fires may start).
~Cheers!

There is a lot going on today. We are going to blitzkrieg this and post posts with multiple links. Fair warning -- we have not had the chance to check all the links, but, we approve what we have seen.
Enjoy all your ham & lamb this Sunday!!

Yummly: Easter Desserts
We know it's late in the season, we know it will take time to search through all of these recipes, we know it will be chaos in the grocery stores, supermarkets, and big-box stores for the next three days, but, if you would like inspiration, or do not know what you are bringing to an Easter pot-luck, or just do not want to do the same thing as always, please have a look at these recipes.

Maundy Thursday Post: Cocktails
For those of you who have participated in Lent -- we have now entered the Tridiuum -- we are so close to Easter! For those of you who are not very observant -- we are so close to Easter!! As such, we present to you cocktails to celebrate this Sunday!!...and, we suppose if you'd like to use them any other time, that would be more than appropriate as well.
Mimosa Bar: http://www.sweetphi.com/make-mimosa-bar/ We though this appropriate because when you are at home or at a dining setting with family and/or friends, there is no better time to celebrate than Easter. We appreciate starting cocktails with brunch...or breakfast. Also found on Pinterest -- Sherbert Mimosas!! Scoop of sherbert + sparkling wine.
Speaking of which, SUNRISES!! Of course, the most traditional is the tequila sunrise, BUT, there are variations. We are grabbing the following from Wikipedia:
Again, from the Wikipedia article.

Speaking of which, SUNRISES!! Of course, the most traditional is the tequila sunrise, BUT, there are variations. We are grabbing the following from Wikipedia:
- Aperol Sunrise – substitute Aperol orange liqueur for grenadine
- Tequila Sunset – substitute blackberry brandy, or dark rum, for grenadine
- Caribbean Sunrise – use rum instead of tequila
- Vodka (or Russian) Sunrise – use vodka instead of tequila
- Southern Sunrise – use Southern Comfort instead of tequila
- Astronaut Sunrise – use Tang instead of orange juice
- Amaretto Sunrise – use Disaronno amaretto instead of tequila
- Florida Sunrise – use equal measures of pineapple and orange juice
- Red Sea Sunrise – non-alcoholic version that uses lemonade or Sprite instead of tequila
- Enamorada Sunrise – substitute Campari for grenadine syrup
- Colorado Sunrise – use Captain Morgan and Sunny Delight instead of tequila and orange juice
- Bequia Sunrise – use Union Jake's Honey Brandy instead of tequila
The basic recipe for a Tequila Sunrise:

Preparation | Pour the tequila and orange juice into glass over ice. Add the grenadine, which will sink to the bottom. Do not stir. Garnish and serve. |
Next: Caffeine! 23 Icy Caffeinated Cocktails This link has some recipes with either coffee or cola...we cannot vouch for caffeine in all of them, but, that reminds us -- SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO Grind Espresso Shot Made with real Arabica beans. When we had this at the Standard Liquor Tasting in Topeka on 3/8/16, it was marketed as, "It will change your morning routine."

Tuesday Before Easter -- MORE Easter Recipes
If all goes well, we will provide you with Easter recipes all this week.
The secretary still does not have a computer of her own since the third computer ordered from a certain online merchant does not have a battery that accepts a charge. (To be fair, these computers may be re-furbished.)
Anyway, not having her own computer means she is limited in what she can do...especially in helping others since she cannot download/upload necessary programs and apps.
Rest assured -- even though the secretary does not have her own computer, that does not mean the rest of the Cheers POS team is slowed down in any way. We all are still checking the best options to get this to the most people (we have communicated with different people who are in the liquor store business. We are doing what we can to help them.).
Changing topics -- this came in the inbox yesterday or today (hard to keep track): http://www.epicurious.com/recipes-menus/easy-make-ahead-easter-brunch-menu?
Make ahead!! That's what attracted attention! Looking through the menu options, though, "Easy," might be a stretch...as in Silly Putty-like. The ingredients may be a bit upscale...and difficult to obtain. Viewing the recipes may be a little impractical for some, BUT, still, we encourage all our readers and customers to view and look at these. We LOVED the idea for the quiche with hash brown crust....but, hope it is adaptable for spinach and mushrooms...or anything else really besides asparagus. (The recipe calls for Fontina and fresh goat cheese...because we all have that available.)
Our favorite, and we checked out the recipe, was the Coffee Coffee Coffee Cake. !! :D http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/coffee-coffee-coffee-cake-56389466 The only odd thing may be the espresso powder...but, maybe that can be substituted with supermarket brand double mocha cappuccino instant mix.
There is a drink recipe through that first Epicurious address, but, again, it is VERY high-brow
Let us remedy that. Some more Easter drink recipes:
--http://www.gone-ta-pott.com/Easter-Cocktails---Easter-isn-t-just-about-chocolate.html The last one of these requires a few days prep time: jelly beans in vodka, otherwise, these seem like good, easy, doable recipes for the great celebration of Easter.
IF it may be...not yet 60 degrees Fahrenheit where you are this Easter (it will not be in this part of Kansas), here are some cold-weather decadent boozy recipes:
--http://damndelicious.net/2013/12/03/kahlua-hot-chocolate/ Because Easter = chocolate.

Monday Before Easter -- Recipes for Easter
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/naturally-dyed-pickled-easter-eggs?
We saw the above link, and, while it's pretty neat that one can color and pickle eggs with some natural ingredients, is using food dye or PASS's Food Color Tablet to vinegar all that synthetic? I guess the draw is the simultaneous pickling & dying, as there may be decent ways to do either.
We did not click on any of the links but checked to see the recipes included. We like the use of lamb, but, we acknowledge, it can be expensive.
We saw this link on Pinterest. We did not click on the individual recipes, though we were intrigued. Some of them have specialty ingredients, but, if one wants to splurge, Easter is probably a good time to do so.
On another note, our secretary has gotten yet another new (refurbished?) computer!! The first replacement did not keep a charge, flickered, and had bad graphics, the second computer did not charge, the third one has been plugged in for about an hour...and is not holding a charge/charging (it has been at 0% for at least 15 minutes), though it says it is charging.
It is important that the computers have a power back up here at the office should any of our customers need support; if the power goes out here, we can still help them remotely.
~Cheers!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day -- Standard Beverage Spring Product Showcase Review (Plus Bonus Tasting)
Last Tuesday (March 8, 2016), our secretary went to this event. This will not be an extensive review, BUT, we will transcribe her notes for the products on which she took notes.
1. She discovered she liked oaked over unoaked wines. Her notes: Unoaked Dry. Oaked -- Smells sweeter. Dry but more flavorful.
2. Smirnoff Sourced Cranapple: Cough syrup.
-- Actually, "cough syrup," was what the men behind the counter said others said it tasted like. She initially thought it tasted like Bubble Gum Flavored Teeth Cleaner from the dentist (she has issues with that cleaner from her childhood), but, agreed with, "cough syrup." She heard that the Smirnoff Sourced Pineapple (these are gluten free or natural or something) was MUCH better, but, she did not try for herself.
3. Captain Morgan Cannon Blast: Citrusy
--She liked this.
4. Grants Ale Cask: Mild. Flavorful Like water
--She did not hate it. It was neutral/indifferent. Yes, she would drink this again.
5. Ryans Irish Cream: Rich! Sweet!
--LOVED THIS!!! Thick & creamy! Desert-y! Greatest selling point: $9.99 on sale for a 750 mL bottle.
6. Coldcock Whiskey: Herbal! Good
7. Humble Vines Sauvignon Blanc: Minerality Smooth
8. Humble Vines Shiraz: Tried
--Indifferent. Neutral. Nothing to write home about, but, did not hate.
9. Garnacha de Fuego: Tried
10. Infinite Monkey Moscato Can: Bubbly Sweet, but, couldn't taste it. Denver
--Sparkling wine. In a can. The marketing was if you are at the beach or back yard, you may not have the opportunity to bring a glass with you, but, you would still like to relax and enjoy your sparkling wine. The solution: Infinite Monkey! It is from Denver, CO. The secretary has reservations about drinking wine from a can (is this on par with or sub box-wine?), BUT, she reasoned that they have this product marketed, and got packaging for it, so clearly, there is clientele for it. She did not hate it, but, could not get over it was wine in a can.
11. Zonin Lambrusco: Bubbly. Dry-ish
12. Sam Adams Nitro White Ale Can: Tried
13. Sam Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA: Tried
14. Angry Orchard Green Apple: Tried
15. North Coast Old Rasputin: Chocolatey! (sic)
16. Boulder Shake: Chocolate Tried
Our secretary tried at least 21 products, not 16. She had sips from the liquor store manager and her sister she went with. Every time she thought she was done (and said she could not have any more), others insisted she try another product.
If, "Tried," is the review, it means there was nothing spectacular about that item; it was fairly indifferent, nothing great or remarkable. Average.
BONUS: Our secretary went to Nebraska over the weekend and tried five different beers.
-- Third Stone Brown Ale: Tasted like an average ale.
-- All Hopped Up IPA: Average IPA
-- Okhrana Imperial Stout: Stout tasting.
-- Kompagnon Kölsch: She did not like this.
-- Wicked Snout (Farmhouse Ale): She liked this. It was described as having hints of banana and citrus and she could taste it! Very...novel! Plus, who doesn't love the name?
Hope this helps!
~Cheers!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day -- A LINK TO SAVE MONEY, TOO!!!
1. Happy Saint Patrick's Day. May those who love us, love us, and those who hate us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles so we will know our enemies by their limp.
2. Is your liquor store running any promotions today? One of our liquor stores is running a 5% discount on all Irish beverages (our secretary was eyeing St. Brendan's and 2 Gingers this week...).
3. We found this AMAZING blog post. We cannot verify the links, we did not check out all of them, BUT, we would like to share this site with you. http://www.retiredby40blog.com/2014/11/17/21-things-frugal-people-dont/ The post starts with some caveats. We encourage our readers and followers to read through this and share it.
4. We have not tried ANY of these, BUT, Yummly has Colcannon recipes: http://www.yummly.com/recipes/irish-colcannon We simply HAD to share.

Some Irish Drink Recipes!!
1. Our secretary got to star using her new computer yesterday. It works, however, it does not keep a charge.
2. http://www.whitelightsonwednesday.com/st-pattys-day-cocktails/ has, "St. Patrick's Day," drinks. However, we could not get the links for the, "Dew Berrymore," "Banshee," or, "Guinness Ice Cream," drinks to work. To get to the Irish Car Bomb Jell-O shots, you must click on a link to get to this page: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1HNeUc/www.endlesssimmer.com/2012/03/02/booze-bites-irish-car-bomb-jell-o-shots/
Yes, "Shenanigans," is listed twice, BUT, the link takes you to a website with multiple recipes, so do not be annoyed too much.
3. Last week Tuesday, our secretary tried Ryans Irish Cream (750mL sale price of $9.99 in KS). She likes this MUCH better than any other she has tried!! It is rich and decadent and wonderful. You just cannot beat it. See if you can get it at your liquor store, and if not, ask for it!
~Cheers!

Our Secretary is Back -- AND SHE HAS A NEW COMPUTER!!!
It has been a while (our secretary was out of the office last week, but, she has been playing musical computers before that), but, things are beginning to come together. Our secretary has her own new computer...it may be refurbished, but, it is new to her! (She had a refurbished one before this, but, the screen was not optimal (one could see the pixels...and this was at least a Windows 8 operating system) and when unplugged, it did not retain battery power; it had to be sent back.) She came in and saw attached to this Asus computer a Posiflex cash register and a Star receipt printer. There may be a scanner attached soon so that she has a fully operating Cheers POS system at her personal desk in order to help clients and customers.
Even without the hardware, this is plenty exciting due to being able to download the apps and software she needs sans hesitation; getting the ACTUAL programs she needs instead of the trial versions.
We know, Saint Patrick's (and Saint Joseph's) Day is coming up. This (both of these) mean alcohol! She will try to find some recipes to post in the upcoming days.
She also went to a Standard Distributor's liquor tasting last Tuesday, March 8, 2016 as well as an even over the weekend in Nebraska where she tried new beer. She will hopefully have the time and ability to post reviews of what she has learned later this week.
Be sure to check out our Facebook and G+ pages!

Three Bar Code Scanners Tested
Even though Cheers POS is in the business of selling a cloud based solution, we want to provide the best hardware for your store to accompany Cheers POS -- we want to approve and stand behind what we advertise AND provide the best for our customers.
Yesterday, our secretary was told to try out the three scanners in the office so that a review can be written about them. Today, that is what she did, and here is what she can say:
First, none of these had holders when they were tested. The scan buttons had to be depressed on all of them to get them to scan (which may be...inconvenient...if one works at a liquor store, where it could be easier just to scan the item's barcode under the scanner in the holder.
The three scanners tested were the IDTECH IDBA-4244MRB, the Metrologic Voyager MS9540, and the Motorola Symbol P/N LS2208-SR20007R-UR. These were fairly all blind tests; none of these were researched for their capabilities before use. "Use," consisted of scanning a 50mL bottle each of Evan Williams Honey, Tanqueray, and Johnnie Walker Red Label at fairly close range.
We had a problem with the Metrologic Voyager -- It did not pick up the Evan Williams Honey, though we gave it two opportunities. Boo -- Hiss -- Fail. This was, therefore, the worst of the three.
We found the IDTECH scanner to be fun! It had a big ol' fat barcode laser scanner. The red laser engulfed the entire barcode for all three products. This was an even bigger win because this scanner started with the Evan Williams Honey the Metrologic Voyager failed to scan and picked it up right away. This was our favorite.
That leaves the Motorola Symbol. We had been informed that this scanner has quite a distance range, that is, it can scan from a ways away. Perhaps it is because our particular device has been used in the past...a bit...that it was not as spectacular as was expected. Yes, it did scan from a little bit away, but, it was much closer than arm's length. This model was efficient, and the scanner has stood the test of time. We did not scan the other two regarding distance because the Metrologic Voyager could not even scan all three items as it was and we did not think of doing so with the IDTECH because we did not know of the capabilities.
~Cheers!

Cheers POS' New Facebook Page
We now have a new Facebook address! We are now at https://www.facebook.com/cheerspos/ if you would like to keep up with us on Facebook. We are already posting and Liking pages. Today, we shared some Pinterest-found Saint Patrick's Day drinks. Naturally, we will share them here as well.
In other news, our secretary SHOULD be getting a new computer today. She cannot wait! Having all the programs and apps she needs to their fullest (not just the demo trials, not having to log into another person's computer, which may not be the same computer, day to day), having the ability to download what she needs sans hesitation -- bring it!
She is even more anxious to go to a liquor tasting from a certain distributor on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.
If she remembers anything, she may inform us on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

Almost Back --
We are working on getting our secretary her own computer again. She has been playing musical computers since January. We thought we had one, but, the monitor had been compromised -- it was no good and one simply cannot maintain an Internet based company (not to mention all the apps and online programs we use) when one's monitor is sketchy.
We have been working on videos for our Cheers POS customers. We have uploaded a good deal of them to your back office. If you are a customer of Cheers POS, you should be able to view these short help videos if you select, "Support," in your back office. Please let us know if these help you.
Things have been busy (especially with one less computer)!
We know, Saint Patrick's Day (3/17), Saint Joseph's Day (3/19), Easter (3/27 this year), AND Tax Day (4/15) are all coming up! ALL SUPERB reasons to drink. We will try to upload drinks for everybody, but, no promises. ...We will need time to load/install all the information on the new computer once we get it. Ugh.
~Cheers!
