Last Tuesday (March 8, 2016), our secretary went to this event. This will not be an extensive review, BUT, we will transcribe her notes for the products on which she took notes.
1. She discovered she liked oaked over unoaked wines. Her notes: Unoaked Dry. Oaked -- Smells sweeter. Dry but more flavorful.
2. Smirnoff Sourced Cranapple: Cough syrup.
-- Actually, "cough syrup," was what the men behind the counter said others said it tasted like. She initially thought it tasted like Bubble Gum Flavored Teeth Cleaner from the dentist (she has issues with that cleaner from her childhood), but, agreed with, "cough syrup." She heard that the Smirnoff Sourced Pineapple (these are gluten free or natural or something) was MUCH better, but, she did not try for herself.
3. Captain Morgan Cannon Blast: Citrusy
--She liked this.
4. Grants Ale Cask: Mild. Flavorful Like water
--She did not hate it. It was neutral/indifferent. Yes, she would drink this again.
5. Ryans Irish Cream: Rich! Sweet!
--LOVED THIS!!! Thick & creamy! Desert-y! Greatest selling point: $9.99 on sale for a 750 mL bottle.
6. Coldcock Whiskey: Herbal! Good
7. Humble Vines Sauvignon Blanc: Minerality Smooth
8. Humble Vines Shiraz: Tried
--Indifferent. Neutral. Nothing to write home about, but, did not hate.
9. Garnacha de Fuego: Tried
10. Infinite Monkey Moscato Can: Bubbly Sweet, but, couldn't taste it. Denver
--Sparkling wine. In a can. The marketing was if you are at the beach or back yard, you may not have the opportunity to bring a glass with you, but, you would still like to relax and enjoy your sparkling wine. The solution: Infinite Monkey! It is from Denver, CO. The secretary has reservations about drinking wine from a can (is this on par with or sub box-wine?), BUT, she reasoned that they have this product marketed, and got packaging for it, so clearly, there is clientele for it. She did not hate it, but, could not get over it was wine in a can.
11. Zonin Lambrusco: Bubbly. Dry-ish
12. Sam Adams Nitro White Ale Can: Tried
13. Sam Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA: Tried
14. Angry Orchard Green Apple: Tried
15. North Coast Old Rasputin: Chocolatey! (sic)
16. Boulder Shake: Chocolate Tried
Our secretary tried at least 21 products, not 16. She had sips from the liquor store manager and her sister she went with. Every time she thought she was done (and said she could not have any more), others insisted she try another product.
If, "Tried," is the review, it means there was nothing spectacular about that item; it was fairly indifferent, nothing great or remarkable. Average.
BONUS: Our secretary went to Nebraska over the weekend and tried five different beers.
-- Third Stone Brown Ale: Tasted like an average ale.
-- All Hopped Up IPA: Average IPA
-- Okhrana Imperial Stout: Stout tasting.
-- Kompagnon Kölsch: She did not like this.
-- Wicked Snout (Farmhouse Ale): She liked this. It was described as having hints of banana and citrus and she could taste it! Very...novel! Plus, who doesn't love the name?
Hope this helps!
~Cheers!
