Maundy Thursday Post: Cocktails

For those of you who have participated in Lent -- we have now entered the Tridiuum -- we are so close to Easter!  For those of you who are not very observant -- we are so close to Easter!!  As such, we present to you cocktails to celebrate this Sunday!!...and, we suppose if you'd like to use them any other time, that would be more than appropriate as well.

Mimosa Bar: http://www.sweetphi.com/make-mimosa-bar/  We though this appropriate because when you are at home or at a dining setting with family and/or friends, there is no better time to celebrate than Easter.  We appreciate starting cocktails with brunch...or breakfast.  Also found on Pinterest -- Sherbert Mimosas!!  Scoop of sherbert + sparkling wine.

Speaking of which, SUNRISES!!  Of course, the most traditional is the tequila sunrise, BUT, there are variations.  We are grabbing the following from Wikipedia:
  • Aperol Sunrise – substitute Aperol orange liqueur for grenadine
  • Tequila Sunset – substitute blackberry brandy, or dark rum, for grenadine
  • Caribbean Sunrise – use rum instead of tequila
  • Vodka (or Russian) Sunrise – use vodka instead of tequila
  • Southern Sunrise – use Southern Comfort instead of tequila
  • Astronaut Sunrise – use Tang instead of orange juice
  • Amaretto Sunrise – use Disaronno amaretto instead of tequila
  • Florida Sunrise – use equal measures of pineapple and orange juice
  • Red Sea Sunrise – non-alcoholic version that uses lemonade or Sprite instead of tequila
  • Enamorada Sunrise – substitute Campari for grenadine syrup
  • Colorado Sunrise – use Captain Morgan and Sunny Delight instead of tequila and orange juice
  • Bequia Sunrise – use Union Jake's Honey Brandy instead of tequila
The basic recipe for a Tequila Sunrise:
IBAspecified ingredients*
PreparationPour the tequila and orange juice into glass over ice. Add the grenadine, which will sink to the bottom. Do not stir. Garnish and serve.
Again, from the Wikipedia article.

Next: Caffeine!  23 Icy Caffeinated Cocktails  This link has some recipes with either coffee or cola...we cannot vouch for caffeine in all of them, but, that reminds us -- SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO Grind Espresso Shot  Made with real Arabica beans.  When we had this at the Standard Liquor Tasting in Topeka on 3/8/16, it was marketed as, "It will change your morning routine."

~Cheers!
